PP Cotton Filter Pack with Balls for Shower Heads

During the shower, the skin can absorb water and substances present in it due to external pressure. For this reason, not only is the quality of drinking water important, but also the water used for daily hygiene. This filter pack for shower heads is designed to improve the quality of water used during bathing.

Micrometric PP Cotton Filter

Despite its name, the filter does not contain natural cotton. It is made of polypropylene fiber (PP), a plastic polymer that resembles cotton in appearance and texture. This material is widely used as a filtering medium in water and air purification systems due to its durability, chemical resistance and ability to withstand high temperatures.

The term “cotton” refers to the way the material is presented, similar to a woven or non-woven fiber that acts as a filtering barrier. Its structure allows capturing extremely fine particles that could go unnoticed in less precise filters.

Filtration Capacity

The micrometric filter can retain particles such as sand, sediments, rust and other impurities present in the supply network. Thanks to this capacity, high sanitary quality is achieved, as it can capture protozoa and most bacteria.

The filtration size is measured in microns (µm), where one micron equals a thousandth of a millimeter, giving an idea of the system's precision level.

Combined Filtration System

The filter operates through two complementary systems:

• Mechanical filtration: the polypropylene fiber acts as a physical barrier that retains sediments, sand and rust, improving water clarity and protecting the internal layers of the system.
• Filtration by balls: the inside of the filter incorporates calcium sulfite balls, mainly used to eliminate free chlorine and other chemicals, as well as to reduce heavy metals. Calcium sulfite reacts with free chlorine, neutralizing it and improving both the quality and odor of the water.

Benefits and Maintenance

Using these filters helps improve the taste and odor of water, reduces the presence of contaminants such as sediments and heavy metals, helps decrease water hardness and offers additional protection against limescale buildup in the shower head and aerator.

To maintain their effectiveness, it is important to replace the filters regularly, as over time they may become saturated and lose their properties. Depending on water quality and shower usage frequency, it is recommended to replace them every 1 or 2 months.
